In this study, we examined the relationship between the low salinity water in the shelf region of the southern Okhotsk Sea which was seasonally sampled (0–200 m), and fluxes of low salinity water from Aniva Bay. To express the source of freshwater mixing in the surface layer, we applied normalized total alkalinity (NTA) and stable isotopes of seawater as chemical tracers. NTA-S diagrams indicate that NTA of low salinity water in the upper 30 m layer just off the Soya Warm Current is clearly higher than in the far offshore region in summer and autumn. Using NTA-S regression lines, we could deduce that the low salinity and high NTA water in the upper layer originates from Aniva Bay. For convenience, we defined this water as the Aniva Surface Water (ASW) with values S < 32, NTA > 2450 μmol kg−1. Formation and transport processes of ASW are discussed using historical data. The interaction between the maximum core of high NTA water on the bottom slope of eastern Aniva Bay and an anticyclonic eddy at the mouth of Aniva Bay are concluded to control ASW formation. Upwelling of the Cold Water Belt water at the tip of Cape Krillion is considered to cause ASW outflow from Aniva Bay. 相似文献

The Khok Kruat Formation is the upper part of the Khorat Group, which consists of upper Lower Cretaceous non-marine sedimentary rocks in northeastern Thailand. Many dinosaur footprints have been known from the upper Lower Cretaceous (Aptian–Albian) Khok Kruat Formation at the Huai Dam Chum (Tha Uthen) site, northeastern Thailand. Approximately 600 tracks occur in thin mudstone layer of the northern part of the outcrop at the Huai Dam Chum track site. Two types of footprints, small-sized theropod and crocodylomorph are imprinted with mud cracks and ripple marks on the thin mud layer. Most of footprints are referred to cf. Asianopodus, and are imprinted by small-sized theropoda, probably ornithomimosauria. Theropod tracks are mainly separated into two groups, Group A and Group B. From ichnological viewpoints, the small-sized theropod track assemblage indicates the herd behaviour and its idiosyncratic group composition. In particular, the histogram of size-frequency measurements of Group A shows the anomalous bimodal distribution. Little research has examined whether forests reduce stream water eutrophication in agricultural areas during spring snowmelt periods. This study evaluated the role of forests in ameliorating deteriorated stream water quality in agricultural areas, including pasture, during snowmelt periods. Temporal variation in stream water quality at a mixed land‐use basin (565 ha: pasture 13%, forestry 87%), northern Japan, was monitored for 7 years. Synoptic stream water sampling was also conducted at 16 sites across a wide range of forest and agricultural areas in a basin (18.3 km2) in spring, summer and fall. Atmospheric nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) deposition were measured for 4 years. The results showed that concentration pulses of nitrate, organic N and total P in stream water were observed when discharge increased during spring snowmelt. Their concentrations were high when silicate concentrations were low, suggesting surface water exported from pasture largely contributed to stream water pollution during snowmelt. Atmospheric N and P deposition (4.1 kg N ha?1 y?1; 0.09 kg P ha?1 y?1, respectively) was too low to affect the background concentrations of N and P in streams from forested areas. Reduction of eutrophication caused by nutrients from pasture was mainly due to dilution by water containing low concentrations of N and P exported from forested areas, whereas in‐stream reduction was not a dominant process. Thermal and vibrational energy losses due to URCA shells in stellar interiors are calculated. Analytic expressions are derived for semidegenerate, relativistic electrons. Results are given for more general cases calculated with a computer. The calculations are carried out for a large number of nuclei that may contribute to URCA energy losses in various stages of stellar evolution. An illustration is given of the cooling and vibrational damping of a white dwarf. For a central Fermi energy 5 MeV, the internal temperature of the star should be reduced to the order of 106 K and the relative vibrational amplitude should be reduced to the order of 10–5 on a time scale of 109 yr. URCA shells are present, the URCA neutrino energy loss dominates in the temperature region up to about 2×109 K. 相似文献

Interdiffusion coefficients of Al + Al vs. Mg + Si in the gehlenite–åkermanite system of melilite were determined by coupled annealing of synthesized end-member single crystals. The observed diffusion coefficients for a couple-annealed sample vary for about 2 orders of magnitude, showing strong dependence on the gehlenite–åkermanite composition: diffusion coefficient observed at 1350 °C, for example, is 3 × 10?13 cm2 s?1 at 5 mol% åkermanite composition (Ak5), increases to 2 × 10?11 cm2 s?1 at Ak80, and then decreases to 1 × 10?12 cm2 s?1 at Ak95. The diffusion coefficient–temperature relation indicates high activation energy of diffusion of about 420 kJ mol?1 for gehlenite-rich melilite. The observed diffusion coefficient–composition relation may be explained by a combination of (1) the diffusion coefficient–melting temperature relation (Flynn's rule) and (2) the feasibility of local charge compensation, which can possibly be maintained more easily in the intermediate chemical composition. The high activation energy value for gehlenitic melilite appears to correspond to the complex diffusion mechanism. The observed highly variable diffusion coefficients suggest that gehlenite–åkermanite zoning in the melilite crystals in Ca, Al-rich inclusions in the carbonaceous meteorites may provide a sensitive indicator for the thermal history of the inclusions. 相似文献

Halloysite A, which is a weathering product of feldspar in granitic rocks and of matrix clay minerals in sand, takes the shape of long tubes. Halloysite B which is a weathering product of pyroclastic materials takes the shape of balls, nodules, scrolls or short tubes. Stability of the interlayer water of halloysite varies from sample to sample, but does not show a simple relation to these genetical types. Interannual variations of biomass of major mesozooplankton groups (Cnidaria, Chaetognatha, Copepoda, Crustacea other than
copepods, Tunicata) in the January to March period were examined in the slope, Kuroshio and offshore waters off the Pacific
coast of western Japan (western region) from 1971 to 1988 and off central Japan (central region) from 1971 to 1989. The mean
biomass for each year of most of the mesozooplankton groups was high in the early 1970s and tended to decrease (in the western
region) or to have dropped to a lower level (in the central region) after the mid-1970s. Stepwise multiple linear regression
analyses of the mean biomass for each year of each mesozooplankton group in the Kuroshio in both regions against climatic
factors revealed that the biomass was related positively to wind speed. It is therefore considered that the nutrient supply
to the upper layers limits the production of many of the mesozooplankton groups examined in the Kuroshio, even in winter.
Similar relationships were also found for the biomass of Copepoda, non-copepod Crustacea and Tunicata in the offshore water
in the western region. The percentage of copepods in the biomass in the central region seemed to decrease under high water
temperature conditions, while that of Chaetgnatha tended to increase. Climatic factors thus largely influenced the interannual
variations of biomass and composition of mesozooplankton in and near the Kuroshio during the winter to early spring period.

The feeding ofSagitta nagae was analyzed in connection with food chains in the pelagic and near-bottom communities of Suruga Bay. The following results are obtained: (1)S. nagae feeds on dominant copepod species both in the free water (upper water layers) and the near-bottom habitats; (2)S. nagae did not show any food-size selection in the range of 0.2 to 1.2 mm in cephalothorax width and height of copepods; (3) Feeding activity ofS. nagae in the free water is highest at night, while in the near-bottom habitat the species feeds more actively during the day than at night; and (4)S. nagae migrates between the bottom and free water and plays an important role in shallow water by connecting the near-bottom community with the pelagic community. 相似文献
